We had a 1hr sauna at Steam and Salt (March 2026). What a wonderful experience!! If you are even remotely tempted to give it a try get booked in!! I went with a friend and we didn’t know any of the other people there but it was not an issue at all, we felt very welcome and comfortable. The sauna is very new, immaculately clean and you sit looking out of a huge window on to the sea. It's relaxed and friendly, very well organised and the ladies running it were lovely. The safety instructions (very much needed as the sea was stormy) were very clear. You can pop in and out to dip in the sea as you wish. There are lots of great places to eat nearby after and plenty parking within walking distance. It feels like good value to me. I can't wait to go back. ~ Eleanorj

We visited Steam & Salt as part of a community event arranged through elite: Cramlington. I have to say in the run up to the event Maggie that I spoke to was nothing but accommodating and friendly. On the day we visited the two staff on site were also very friendly and organised. We had a great 1 hour here myself and all of the other guests thoroughly enjoyed it s much so that we are now trying to arrange our second visit. If anyone is thinking of visiting I would highly recommend this. My tip is although there was a tent up on the beach to change the tide came in and the changing tent had to be dismantled so please be advised that you have to change outdoors so bring a DryRobe and don't forget two towels one to use in the Sauna and one to use to get changed, don't forget your water! Steam and Salt is hands down the best sauna experience I’ve ever had! We stumbled across them on Saturday, had an amazing chat with the owner, Maggie, and even though they were fully booked, she managed to squeeze us in the next morning after a cancellation. Maggie was absolutely amazing – so welcoming and kind. I came all the way from down south, and she instantly made me feel at home. The whole setup is perfect. It’s right by the sea, so you can take a refreshing dip in the water after your sauna – the best way to start your day! The vibes were spot on, and everything about the experience was so thoughtfully done. I’ll 100% be back next time I’m in Newcastle. ~ Joel S

Steam and Salt has quickly become one of my favourite places to spend time. The setting is unbeatable, with stunning coastal views that make it feel like a proper escape from the everyday. The sauna itself is clean, well-maintained, and has a lovely cosy atmosphere. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating a welcoming and calming space by Maggie and her friendly team. A short walk (tide dependant) and you can have an invigorating dip in the sea which is the perfect combination with the hot sauna. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax, recharge, and enjoy something a bit different by the coast. A real gem in Tynemouth! 🌊🔥 ~ Bev J

Great day. I'll be honest I wasn't completely looking forward to doing this but I've totally changed my mind. Yes the North Sea is freeeeezzzing but what do you expect, the hour or so at Steam & Salt was fab. Lady who checked us in was very friendly, clear giving us instructions, very helpful and engaging. Box with a lid to keep your clothes etc in. Sauna was spotless. A little one person tent to get changed in if you need it. As for the location, beautiful Tynemouth, what more could you ask for. Steam & Salt has had an unbelievable upgrade and is open to book from 12th January. I was genuinely blown away by the quality of the new permanent sauna, the view, the space, everything about it just works. It’s a brand new location for Steam & Salt and I’ve got no doubt it’s going to be a huge success. Maggie and her husband (with the help from friends and family) have done an outstanding job, the hard work and positive energy really shine through. I can’t wait to get back ASAP and to see the success and community this brings to Longsands, just like Maggie did at King Eddie’s. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ~ luke

Myself and a friend had an amazing experience on a very wet and cold January morning. We were met by a very friendly host and the sauna was cleaned prior to us entering. It was extremely spacious inside and soon filled up with lovely like minded sauna guests 🙏 We met some lovely people from all over the world and even managed to take two dips in the sea 🌊 in between our sauna session. We felt ‘alive and glowing’ after our session and slept well that night. I would highly recommend especially if you have never tried it ! Good luck Steam & Salt Fee & Hazel ~ Scott D

I went with my daughter to Steam and Salt Tynemouth on a Friday afternoon in April using a gift voucher I had from Christmas. The weather outside was a bit dreary and changeable but that added to the whole experience. The sauna space is immaculately clean with an amazing view. It’s really hot too so you definitely need to cool down and there are lots of options for that - we chose the sea 🌊 Clear explanations to stay safe in the sea and sauna itself. Super friendly hosts. One of the best experiences for me as a regular sea dipper. I try and do this at least once a month, it’s just an incredible feeling being in the sea then into the sauna. With its tranquil location down on Kind Eddies bay it’s something I treat myself too, that bit of much needed ‘me time’, somewhere I can relax, unwind and be present. Maggie is a dream, so friendly, knowledgeable and just lovely 🥰 she provides her own salt scrub, oil, massage tools and there’s also essential oils, many to choose from. We had a superb afternoon with Steam and Salt , a group of pals booked an hour in the large sauna unit , we were met on arrival and immediately felt at ease, the dos and donts explained where to put your clothes . A great view from the large window of the surf competition taking place , and three dips in a nippy ( 6 degrees) North Sea on a high tide which meant we didn't have far to walk . The hour flew over . Steam & Salt on Tynemouth Longsands is brilliant, my weekly tonic after a long week working! Maggie, Sal, Alex and the rest of the staff are amazing people; friendly, helpful and supportive, just really good people. The saunas are always clean, just the right temperature with fantastic views of the beach and just the place to sit after a cold water dip! Just wanted to say what a fabulous experience myself and my 2 friends had on Friday mornings 7am session. It was our first time trying out the sauna. The essential oils and body scrub really made it feel luxurious. We loved the sea dip after too. Maggie was our host and she was so welcoming and explained everything in detail and we felt so at ease and comfortable. A breathtakingly excellent experience. The sauna's are exactly what I wanted. They are right on the beach, well made, really hot, Maggie provides lots of different essential oils, a body rub. The benches are really high quality, the whole atmosphere was amazing with the waves crashing near by. Maggie & the team made the experience really easy, with real care for our experience. Maggie was flexible to deal with a big change in numbers of people coming. All in all, an amazing experience! ~ Teddy L

Started my birthday in a completely different way this year—an early morning sauna followed by a swim in the sea. It was honestly one of the most special, refreshing experiences I’ve had. Something about the contrast of heat and cold, the quiet of the morning, and being out in nature just reset everything. A wonderful experience. A very warm sauna, and very cool North Sea. Bring water. Bring a towel to sit on, and sit on it. Read the pre arrival advice on the website to make it easier. Staff on hand on arrival to help guide and point out the safe entry points for any sea dips - there’s a known rip. Be prepared to get changed on the sea wall and have your belongings in a big plastic container outside. ~ Lynne

Truly tremendous experience. Went for the first time in August 2024, as birthday treat for hubby, and have been every 3 to 4 weeks since. If we lived more locally I'd be there as often as I could. Truly life-changing experience, combined with sea-dip, and always such wonderful people to meet in the tent! Maggie, the S&S foundation, is such a lovely lady too, can't thank her enough for providing such amazing and quality experience. ~ Lesley S

First time at Tynemouth Sauna as a big sauna fan… and wow, it did not disappoint. The contrast of the cold North Sea in between sessions was unreal, and the views from the sauna were honestly breathtaking. Aeron looked after us so well , offering a beautiful selection of oils and just being an all-round great host. Such a special experience, we will be back ~ Paula J

Spent a lovely relaxing hour here yesterday on my way south from Northumberland. Host was lovely, welcoming and helpful. I was late and forgot my water, but this was all calmly resolved. The oils and massage stones provided are a great touch and really enhanced the experience. Such a pity that businesses like this seem concentrated at the coast - Midlanders love sauna too! ~ Carrie P

What a stunning way to kick off the weekend! Salt air, sea views, and easily the best beach sauna experience in the North East. We had such a great time, and so did our friends visiting from London! What an incredible morning at Steam and Salt! A spontaneous trip while visiting my sister at university turned out to be the highlight of our weekend. Superb experience at Steam & Salt Tynemouth. Lovely host, lovely atmosphere and beautiful setting. Great to have use of the aromatherapy oils in the sauna, lots of water to add and firewood regular topped up. The North Sea here is also lovely- not as cold as you would think but cold enough! I've been vising Maggie's sauna from the King Eddie beach sauna days and I can 100% say that the space Maggie has created on Longsands is absolutely gorgeous. You're always greeted with a smile come rain or shine, and the sauna's sea view is beautiful. There is also a wealth of information on sea safety. Thank you x ~ JENNIFER G
